10 Last Minute Football Transfers That Could Still Go Down Before The Deadline Day

5. Ross Barkley To Aston Villa

It's hasn't all been bad for Ross Barkley during his time with Chelsea, but it certainly hasn't been all good either. Having sparkled alongside Romelu Lukaku at Everton where the Liverpool-born lad made 179 appearances across six full seasons, Barkley joined up with Chelsea in January 2018 but has rarely found enough consistency in both his performances on the pitch and the amount of selections by either one of Antonio Conte, Maurizio Sarri or Frank Lampard.

He might not be the future talisman of English football as some might have first hoped, but there's definitely a lot in Ross Barkley that teams maybe slightly further down the league table could make use of.

One of the most touted destinations for Barkley this summer has been Dean Smith's Aston Villa. With the exception of Jack Grealish, there's a real lack of a dynamic and creative forward-thinking midfielder in the Villa side, with Smith's side only netting one more goal than relegated Bournemouth over the entirety of last season.

With the addition of more clinical forwards such as Bertrand Traore and Ollie Watkins this summer, throw in Ross Barkley behind and suddenly this frontline is looking a heck of a lot more dangerous to the other sides in the league.
