10 Legends You Won't Believe Are Out Of Contract Next Summer

8. Nigel De Jong

Former Manchester City midfielder Nigel De Jong, who currently plays for Serie A side AC Milan, has been linked with a host of clubs - including most notably Manchester United recently - this summer as his deal is set to expire next summer. The 29-year-old, nicknamed €œThe Terrier€, has won a league title with former side Ajax and Manchester City, while having helped his Netherlands national team to a runners-up place in the 2010 World Cup, and a third place finish in the 2014 tournament. He has more than 70 caps under his belt for his country, and over 420 games played for a selection of former clubs (AFC Ajax, Hamburg SV, Man City and AC Milan). The combative midfielder is regarded as one of the best ball-winners in Europe, and as a result AC Milan have been inundated with interest this summer. Manchester United and Arsenal are two of many European giants who have been linked with Nigel De Jong this summer, so the chance for a club to sign the experienced Dutch player for free in 10 month€™s time is something surely too good to turn down.
