He may have won the 2018 Ballon d'Or, but Luka Modric's time at Real Madrid may be at an end.

The 33-year-old has been a key part of the Los Blancos setup since moving to the Bernabeu in 2012, yet a move to Italy could be on the cards before all is said and done this August.

It was only a matter of weeks ago that Modric's agent was reportedly in Italy to meet with AC Milan officials, and the classy midfielder would be a great fit in Serie A.

With his advancing years, the slower pace of Italian football may be the right place for the Croatia star to ply his trade for the next several years. With Zinedine Zidane keen to freshen up his Real Madrid squad, Modric has won all he could possibly win in Spain, and so it might be a good time for club and player for the midfielder to look elsewhere - and if so, AC Milan would make for an ideal location, as the Rossoneri are in need of an experienced head to help guide their younger players.
