10 Man City Players Who Should Fear For Their Future

3. Dedryck Boyata

It€™s far beyond the jurisdiction of a journalistic hack to offer Dedryck Boyata career advice - but he needs to get out of Manchester City. It€™s hard to believe, but along with Joe Hart, he is the longest-serving member of the City squad, having been plucked from the Brussels academy in 2006 as a 15 year old. Instead of growing with the club, however, Boyata has made a career out of standing in the shadows at Eastlands, escaping the cast cull every transfer window by simply convincing the world that he didn€™t exist. Since making his first-team debut in 2009, he has made a further ten league appearances for the club. So often banking on being €˜one for the future€™, Boyata has seen a host of centre-backs drafted in and used ahead of him - hardly a vote of confidence for the Belgian one-cap wonder. At the end of the month, he will be 24 years old - indeed, he is three months older than City€™s £30 million capture Eliaquim Mangala. For a defender to have spent so long at a club and featured so rarely screams one very important message - he needs to leave for the sake of his career.
