10 Man Utd Youngsters Who Never Fulfilled Their Potential

10. Chris Eagles

Chris Eagles may currently be stuck in purgatorial limbo with regards to his career, having failed to find a club upon his release from Championship side Bolton Wanderers at the end of last season, but it was only seven years ago, that a 21 youngster curled home a sumptuous to wrap up a 4-2 comeback victory at Goodison Park in April, as the Red Devils took a giant stride towards the title. For Eagles, it was a moment to build on, with Ferguson having been particularly enamoured with his work ethic. Unfortunately for Eagles, that exquisite solo at Goodison Park was as good as it got for the left-winger. Despite the promise shown in pre-season friendlies and in League Cup outings, Eagles was never quite able to cut it in the first-team and was farmed out on loan four times before Ferguson finally cut the chord in 2008, with Burnley boss Owen Coyle taking a punt on the 22 year old. It€™s a shame how a career once filled with so much promise and enthusiasm has withered away into mediocrity, struggling for work at an age where he should be enjoying the best years of his career.
