10 Moments That Define Mario Balotelli's Career

1. The Title-Winning Assist

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDp5k7E1uds Sergio Aguero takes the acclaim for that dramatic last-gasp winner on the final day of the 11/12 season that cruelly snatched the title from the clutches of their Mancunian counterparts. Mario Balotelli's name wasn't registered on the score-sheet for that insane finale with QPR, so he never received the plaudits, but he arguably produced the greatest contribution of the match. With Man City supporters's nails having been reduced to cuticles following Edin Dzeko's stoppage-time equaliser, the Citizens poured forward in search of that title-winning winner. With Aguero receiving the ball 35 yards from goal, the potent match-winner was six seconds from unbridled ecstacy, but was faced with a blockade of red and white shirts. Threading the ball through to Balotelli, the Italian knocked his marker off the ball, before digging it out for the clinical Argentinian to bury into the back of the net. Always the finisher, that was the Italian's only ever assist for Man City, but for all his mishaps and controversies, that two-second interplay certainly paid back the £24 million invested in his services in August 2010. It seemed almost fitting that Balotelli would play a key role in the last-gasp renaissance of City's title bid, following the catalysmic self-destruction at the Emirates a month earlier. With the reckless red card costing City three points and allowing their cross-city rivals to move eight points clear at the top of the table, it appeared that Mario had single-handedly denied them their first ever Premier League title. Perhaps that last-minute pass for his Argentinian team-mate against QPR not only won the club their first ever Premier League title, but spared his own execution.
