Mexican midfielder Andrés Guardado first turned out for his national side back in 2005 and has gone on to appear an astonishing 145 times in total, scoring 25 goals. He began his club career at Mexican side Atlas before moving to Europe and enjoying spells with Depotivo, Valencia, Bayer Leverkusen, PSV, and Real Betis.

Originally playing as a winger, Guardado has adapted and adjusted his playstyle over the years to become more of an all-round midfielder and just enjoyed a great domestic season with Betis, racking up 2 goals and 8 assists in La Liga.

A popular player at many of the clubs he's spent time with, Guardado is still a far way off becoming Mexico's most-capped player, with that honour belonging to Claudio Suárez, who appeared 177 times for the national side, but he's still been one of his country's longest-serving and most well-respected players. This summer, Mexico have an exciting squad with a lot of attacking talent, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Guardado and his teammates get through to the latter stages.
