Five-time Ballon d'Or winner, current European champion, and indisputably regarded as one of the greatest players to ever take to the pitch, Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most recognisable faces in football and one of the sport's genuine icons.

The 33-year-old has enjoyed an incredible career, excelling in England with Manchester United and going on to enjoy even greater successes in Spain with Real Madrid, scoring 311 league goals in 292 games. His scoring record for Portugal is similarly superb, with 81 strikes in 150 appearances.

For all of his successes, Ronaldo is yet to really take hold of a World Cup, despite appearing at the last three tournaments. He's only scored three World Cup goals, with his trio of strikes coming against Iran, North Korea, and Ghana, and has been accused of struggling on the biggest stage, but remains far and away Portugal's star man and best chance of success at this summer's tournament. He'll be 37 when the next World Cup comes along, so this is Ronaldo's last real chance of lifting the trophy.
