10 Most Disappointing Premier League Players Of 2014/15 (So Far)
2. Mario Balotelli
Balotelli's arrival at Liverpool felt like a bit of a desperate move from Brendan Rodgers last summer, having failed to entice first-choice target Alexis Sanchez to Anfield. The Italian splits opinion more than any footballer in the Premier League, and while some felt it was a shrewd acquisition by the Reds, there were just as many who felt he was a disastrous purchase, for both football and non-footballing reasons. The 24-year-old has been awful during his time on Merseyside, as it happens, failing to score a single Premier League goal. His on-pitch demeanour was harmful to the team when he did play - he has fallen completely out of favour of late - and a combination of poor work-rate, erratic shooting and loss of possession have all been incredibly frustrating. Liverpool's success last season was down to electrifying pace and relentless pressing; Balotelli has offered none of that. The former AC Milan striker's future at Anfield looks bleak in truth, and it appears that Rodgers has lost all faith in him. He is such a talent, with so much potential, but his woeful displays make it look as though his time at yet another top club will soon come to an end.
