There have many disappointing performers this season, but Lovren simply has to stand head and shoulders above the rest. Liverpool's defence was their obvious weak-link last season, and Rodgers spent the summer trying to find a leader who could come in and make their back-line solid again. Lovren was that man, joining for £20m from Southampton, where he had been brilliant in 2013/14, and many Reds fans were delighted with the signing. The 25-year-old has been absolutely appalling during his time at Anfield, however, and prior to losing his place in the side, he actually made Liverpool's defence even more error-prone. He has looked nervous on the ball, rash in the tackle, lacking in pace and, most importantly, showed no confidence whatsoever. At first you wondered whether he was just taking time to settle, but he has shown no sign of improvement at all. The Reds only got nervy against Sunderland on Saturday when he came on at half-time. The Croatia international must not be discarded just yet - it's always a little harsh to completely write someone off during their first season at a new club - but if he doesn't begin to show significant signs of improvement, Rodgers would be well-advised to get rid of him. He has been bitterly disappointing. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.Follow Henry on twitter: @HenryJackson87
