2. T.J. Dillashaw vs Renan Barao
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KbyIwDwRJ0 UFC President Dana White possesses that power of 'what I say goes' - So when the boss jumped on the Renan Barao bandwagon, we all did. Labels like 'pound-for-pound-king' were chucked into the conversation and when people actually sat down and admired his record it was hard to disagree. The Brazilian dominated in his home country for 9 prosperous years, recording 33 fights without a loss (32 wins & 1 no contest). After finishing his first two fights in the WEC via submission, Barao continued to reign over the bantamweight division following the merger with the UFC, picking up a further three wins before he defeated Dillashaw's teammate Urijah Faber for the interim title (later promoted to undisputed bantamweight champion). In the build up to UFC 173, a number of previously scheduled main events fell out, so when T.J. Dillashaw was asked to fill in and save the card, himself and coach Duane Ludwig seemed to be the only people who believed the American could pose any kind of threat to Barao's throne. But in a staggering turn of events, the famous upset played out, and at the end of the night, Joe Rogan described the fight as the greatest performance he'd ever seen. Dillashaw defied the odds, dropping Barao in the very first round and continuing to control the fight until he caught the Brazilian with a head kick and finished him off deep in the fifth. It was a night of bliss and triumph for T.J., a performance that had fans around the world applauding in pure amazement.
