10. Heel Hook
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Se_0qfF1PLU A move so agonising and potentially dangerous, a number of MMA divisions do not allow it to be performed. A heel hook is fundamentally a blown-out knee waiting to happen for the poor soul caught deep in its grasp. The move usually entails a figure-four hold of the opponent's leg when they are down on the canvas - The performer places severe torque on the ankle and twists, weighting their body into the motion. This produces an immense amount of pain and pressure upon the ankle, echoing the anguish of the bone preparing to snap. The psychological trauma, as well as the psychical, is what makes the recipient tap out, and they usually don't fight it for very long. If the round ends and they do survive the move, usually the fighter struggles to maintain focus and progression in the forthcoming five minutes. It hurts to stand and balance on, and the rival fighter knows this all too well, meaning they'll go straight for the injured leg again.
