10 Most Unpredictable Goalkeepers Of All Time
7. Oliver Kahn
The yin to Lehmanns yang, Oliver Kahn similarly will be remembered for not only his incredible goalkeeping skills but also his hair-trigger temper.
Playing with an intensity that made it seem like he thought every other player on the pitch was against him, Kahn carved out a hugely successful career both domestically and for Germany. Striking fear into the hearts of error-prone defenders everywhere, Kahn was the first to discipline his teammates for any mistakes.
Kahn was lauded for his incredible performances at the 2002 World Cup, becoming the first and only goalkeeper to win the Golden Ball award.
A perennial winner, Khan would go well and beyond the rules if it meant ensuring victory for his time. In a 2001 game against Hansa Rostock, and with his Bayern side trailing 3-2 with just minutes to go Kahn charged up the pitch to meet a corner. Rising above the crowd of players, Kahn used his goalkeeping skills to masterfully punch the ball in the back of the net.
It might be worth noting that the goal was immediately disallowed and Kahn was promptly sent off, but the thought was there. When asked about the incident Kahn dispelled any myth claiming a lack of German sense of humour, replying:
"I thought the goalkeeper was allowed to use his hands in the box."
