10 Outsiders Who Could Make England's World Cup 2018 Squad
3. Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)
1332140Kyle Walker is clearly England's first-choice right back, but could Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold claim the second spot? Kieran Trippier seems to be Southgate's preferred option for the time being, but the Anfield outfit's strong end to the season could be enough to force Alexander-Arnold into his plans.
Surprisingly, despite enjoying a real breakout season, especially in the Champions League, Alexander-Arnold wasn't selected in Southgate's latest England squad and seems to be regarded as a little too inexperienced for a place with the Three Lions.
It's true that the youngster is just 19 and has only made a couple of dozen appearances at the top level, but he was also part of the excellent Liverpool side that managed to dismantle Man City in the Champions League quarter finals, with Alexander-Arnold even earning a Man of the Match award for his defensive positioning to counter the threat of German international Leroy Sane. If Southgate picks his squad based on recent form, Alexander-Arnold is more than worthy of a spot.
