10 Outsiders Who Could Make England's World Cup 2018 Squad
4. Lewis Cook
Lewis Cook earned his first England cap earlier this year and is rated pretty highly by Southgate, who has clearly been looking for other options to fill out the Three Lions' midfield. A solid dribbler and tackler who isn't afraid to stretch the pitch with diagonal long balls, Cook offers an X factor that other England midfielders often fail to provide.
As we mentioned earlier, England need a little more firepower and creativity in the middle of the park, and Cook has drawn acclaim for his broad passing range and cool head, with the 21-year-old playing a vital role in helping to guide Bournemouth to what will probably end up as a relatively respectable mid-table finish in the Premier League.
With a recent injury to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and the possibility of an extra midfield spot in Southgate's squad, it's not impossible to think that Cook could be in with a chance of making it to the 2018 World Cup.
