10 Player Spurs Shouldn't Have Got Rid Of

6. Steven Caulker

In 2012, having spent the previous season in a successful season-long loan spell at fellow Premier League side Swansea City, home-grown Spurs defender Steven Caulker broke in to the first team at White Hart Lane. He played for Great Britain at the Olympic Games and proceeded to put in some impressive performances for Spurs. He earned his first England call-up - scoring on his debut against Sweden in what remains his only cap to this day - and was widely touted as the long-term replacement for then-club captain and Spurs legend Ledley King. However, in a surprising move, the Lilywhites opted to sell him to newly promoted Cardiff City for a Bluebirds club record fee of around £8 million. It seemed like such a waste of his talent and, having been relegated with Cardiff, he now plays for former boss Harry Redknapp at Queens Park Rangers, in spite of the fact that Spurs were said to be interested in bringing him back to White Hart Lane last summer.
