10 Players Most Likely To Join Manchester United This Summer
8. Jordy Clasie - 5/4
Current Club: Feyenoord. Despite the acquisition of Ander Herrera, and the other available centre-midfielders at his disposal, if Van Gaal is looking to further extend his midfield options - and he probably should given the problems of last season - he could do a far worse worse job than to consider bringing in Holland midfielder Jordy Clasie. The 23-year-old might have only made one appearance at the World Cup, but his stats last year were incredibly eye-catching, chipping in with 7 assists for his Feyenoord team-mates and showing an aptitude for all aspects of the central midfield role, as he showed in his country's third place play-off against Brazil. He is tenacious, technical and the kind of general that United need multiple times in their first-team, despite his smaller stature. As well as being a creative force, and having an eye for a beautiful, defence-splitting pass, Clasie is also a defensive wall - last year he incredibly made 102 tackles and came second behind centre-half Stefan de Vrij in interceptions (with 62 to his 64). If United are looking for a more defensively minded Paul Scholes, they should look to him, which is probably why United have become his favourite destination in the eyes of the book-makers. Actual Likelihood Of Move: Reasonable. Clasie's stats at Feyenoord should see a bigger European team come knocking, and he is suited well to the Premier League. Van Gaal knows what he offers too, and he could well be on the look out for another midfielder to play alongside Herrera and offer a stronger base for Mata and Januzaj going forward.
