10 Players Newcastle Have ALREADY Missed Out On This Summer
9. André-Pierre Gignac
Proof of transfer rumour: http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-united-facing-battle-striker-8181990 Another name linked with a move to St James' Park for a prolonged period of time. Newcastle are reportedly on the hunt for two strikers this summer and the Frenchman was on their 'B list' of targets in moves for the likes of Charlie Austin and maybe even Saido Berahino didn't come off (those two still could, believe it or not). Now though, with United not pursuing any of their targets with any sort of intent, the French international has signed for Mexican side UANL Tigres. The wages he must be on there aren't worth thinking about... The 29-year-old was Ligue 1s second highest goal scorer last season after netting 21 times for Marseille which is why Newcastle were interested in his services. He is a quality player that had the suitable attributes to flourish in the Premier League. However, it seems his character, which isn't the best considering his move to Mexico, isn't the sort you want at your football club. Especially when you have to scratch and claw to get anything like Newcastle need to these days.
