10. Klaas Jan Huntelaar
Daniel Ochoa de Olza/AP/Press Association ImagesKlaas Jan Huntelaar's time at Real Madrid was short but sweet. Signed from Ajax in January 2009, the Netherlands striker impressed in his half-a-season at the Santiago Bernabeu, scoring eight goals in 20 appearances. Unfortunately, it just wasn't meant to be for the forward, whose playing time began to dwindle following Madrid's signing of Kaka later that summer. Huntelaar left Madrid in search of more frequent first team football and joined Milan, but found appearances just as difficult to come by in Italy, with Marco Borriello keeping him out of the side and Huntelaar not even making the bench until his services were finally required due to injury to Borriello. Even then, Filippo Inzaghi was preferred by manager Leonardo, and it soon became apparent the Dutchman was deemed surplus to requirements. Huntelaar left Milan after a bitterly disappointing 12 months, proving the grass wasn't greener on the other side.
