10 Players Who Probably Regret Leaving Real Madrid

9. Raul Albiol

Joe Giddens/EMPICS SportJoe Giddens/EMPICS SportRaul Albiol insisted he has no regrets leaving Real Madrid, despite picking the worst possible time to walk out of the Bernabeu. It's hard to believe him, though, especially given the successes Real would go on to enjoy just less than 12 months after his departure. The centre-back decided to leave Madrid in the summer of 2013 in search of first team opportunities having made just 18 La Liga appearances the season prior. He joined Napoli for ‚12 million and, despite winning the Coppa Italia with his new club, watched on with green envy as his former side won La Decima - their tenth European Cup - this summer. Albiol admitted: €œI would have liked to raise the tenth Champions League trophy with my friends, but I have no regrets.

€œI had decided to leave Madrid because I needed a new stimulus, not just to have a chance to play more so I could keep my spot in the Spain team for the World Cup."

Even so, that's gotta hurt.
