8. Gonzalo Higuain
Media Image LtdThe same fate befell Gonzalo Higuain last summer, when the striker decided to leave Real Madrid for Napoli. Higuain was one of three players to make the move from los Blancos to the Serie A side last summer - with Jose Callejon and Albiol accompanying the Argentinian out of the Bernabeu. All subsequently missed out on the opportunity to celebrate the finest moment in Real's recent history as the Spaniards won an unprecedented tenth European crown, and must each wish they had waited just another 12 months before moving on with their careers. Still, Higuain, like Albiol,
insists he has no regrets. He said, with perhaps just the slightest touch of bitterness:
"At the Santiago Bernabeu they never chanted my name, whereas here every time my name is announced there is an almighty roar."
We imagine there was a pretty big roar when Real defeated Atletico in Lisbon on May 24th...
