10 Players Sam Allardyce Could Bring With Him To Sunderland
4. Marcos Alonso
Marcos Alonso hasn't played for Sam Allardyce, though they do both have a recent history at Bolton. The Spanish left-back was a revelation for Sunderland during his season on-loan from Fiorentina. However, the Black Cats' inability to turn successful loans into permanent deals has proved to be their undoing in recent years. Like Borini, not a lot was expected from Alonso, though he was an excellent acquisition for the club, with solid attacking full back displays, while also being confident in his defensive role. Again, if Allardyce feels Van Aanholt isn't up to scratch, he may want to go for a risk-free signing of Marcos Alonso who could follow in the footsteps of Borini.
