Jordan Archer - who has a squad number in Spurs' first team squad and is currently out on loan at Northampton Town - has been at Spurs since 2009 when he joined from Charlton Athletic's youth team. Now 21 and a Scotland Under-21 international, he is yet to make a first team appearance and is fourth choice goalkeeper behind Hugo Lloris, Michel Vorm and Brad Friedel, with literally no hope of ever making the first team. Spurs have a habit in recent history of having far too many keepers in their squad and letting at least one of them fade in to the background without contributing - Dave Beasant, Jimmy Walker, Ben Alnwick, César Sánchez and Stipe Pletikosa to name but a few - and Archer shouldn't be allowed to become another example of this.
