It wasnt that long ago that playing for Inter Milan wouldve been close to the pinnacle of European football. However, like their San Siro rivals AC, the Nerazzurri have suffered a horrible fall from grace and are now very much a mid-table side in Serie A. Their one saving grace in 2014/15 was the form of inspirational striker Mauro Icardi. However, considering the clubs current situation, the Argentinian wouldnt be wrong to seek a better club. At 22, the pacey striker might see Roberto Mancinis side as the perfect place to continue his development; the Italians are still a huge name in world football, even if their current level of performance doesnt reflect it. However, the fact Icardi hasnt yet added to the international cap earned in 2013 may serve as motivation to move elsewhere. To score 22 goals in Italy and not be picked for the international stage is worrying, even when the likes of Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero are the players keeping you out. In three years with Sampdoria and Inter, Icardi has shown his obvious talent. The next step would be to test himself on the Champions League. Having signed a four-year contract at the San Siro this summer, hell have to wait at least one more year before making that leap.
