China international Qu Bo's time at Spurs was weird. He was on trial and played in the club's pre-season matches in 2002, having impressed in the 2002 World Cup for his country, but he left after a month, despite most people thinking he had signed, due to a last-minute denial of a work permit. He made an impressive non-competitive debut for the club in a friendly against Crystal Palace and then-manager Glenn Hoddle said he was impressed by Bo - who was 21 at the time and was playing for Qingdao Jonoon in his homeland - and Hoddle had a funny story about how Bo wanted to be called "Kevin" during his brief spell in England. His entire career would end up being spent in China, as moves to Guizhou Renhe and Qingdao Hainiu (who he still plays for now) ensued. He currently has eighteen goals in 78 international appearances and is 33-years-old.
