Turkish midfielder Nuri Sahin has had three different spells with Borussia Dortmund, amounting to 223 appearances between 2005 and 2018. Interspersed between those spells, however, were small stints with Feyenoord, Liverpool and Real Madrid.

He had a successful, year-long loan spell with the Dutch outfit, but his time at Anfield and especially at the Santiago Bernabeu, weren't as memorable.

Sahin revealed the main reason for swapping Dortmund for Madrid was Jose Mourinho, but that didn't flatter the 'Special One' as he played the midfielder only 10 times throughout the campaign, including just four appearances in the league.

He eventually rejoined Borussia Dortmund in 2012 after another failed move to the Merseyside, and is currently plying his trade with Werder Bremen.
