10 Problems Steve McClaren Doesn't Want To Admit About Newcastle

4. Florian Thauvin Is Useless And Was A Disgraceful Bit Of Business

Florian Thauvin cost Newcastle a reported £12 million (plus Remy Cabella), a figure that was described as laughable by French media. After backing Thauvin's transfer since he signed this summer, I have now resigned to the fact that they were very much right about the player's inflated price tag and although looking more robust than Cabella, he certainly doesn't offer much more. He doesn't seem capable of beating a full-back or crossing the ball, he isn't pacy or skilful and despite an amazing home debut (against Northampton) where he scored a goal and grabbed three assists he screams of an unforgivable panic buy.
