10 Reasons Liverpool Will Win The Premier League This Year
3. The Magic Of Sterling And Coutinho
When Suarez left, many were wondering which Liverpool players would go up a gear and make up for the loss of arguably the world's third best footballer. The answer is Sterling and Coutinho. The attacking duo, just 19 and 22 respectively, were both absolutely outstanding during pre-season, linking up spectacularly and playing with a maturity and confidence beyond their years. Sterling is player who can become anything he wants to be. His pace and trickery are electrifying, he works his socks off and his goalscoring record is improving all time. His goal and assist in the opening weekend win over Southampton further highlighted how important he is to this team now. Coutinho, meanwhile, is comfortably the most creative player at Liverpool, and possibly the most naturally gifted too. He can see a pass before most, has a wonderful ability to beat a man and dribble at pace, and is at an age where he is only going to get better. Luiz Felipe Scolari's decision not to select him in Brazil's squad for this summer's World Cup was absolutely astonishing, and he will surely be a fixture in their squad under Dunga for years to come. For all the brilliance of Jordan Henderson, Gerrard and Sturridge, among others, it is Sterling and Coutinho who make Liverpool tick, and they will be their two star men in 2014/15.
