10 Reasons Sunderland Shouldn't Fear Man United

4. Rodwell Will Have More Match Fitness Under His Belt

Who would have thought Sunderland would have persuaded Jack Rodwell to come and join Sunderland for a fee rising to £10m? In the words of Lee Congerton, we may have just signed the future England captain this summer. Incredible business from Sunderland. Rodwell has now featured in two pre season games and gained a crucial 60 minutes in a competitive game against West Bromwich Albion and this all bodes well for his and Sunderland's future season that lies ahead. Rodwell will be anticipating this game with excitement as he features against Man United and can compete against the likes of Fletcher, Carrick and Herrera in the centre of midfield. With him being a former City player, he will expect a tough reception from the United fans up in the top tier of the Stadium of Light but this will be something he will flourish in rather than fail in. If we can manage to get a full 90 minutes from Rodwell than this will be the main thing for Gus Poyet and the fans but there is nothing stopping him from creating a chance or even bursting into the box late on to grab a crucial goal or even winner!
