10 Reasons Sunderland Shouldn't Fear Man United

3. John O'Shea And Wes Brown Still Have Points To Prove To Utd Fans

It is clear from the recent rumours and who started on Saturday that our defensive options will be changing over the next two weeks until the window shuts. If Poyet and Congerton fail to bring in another defender before Sunday the hopeful centre back pairing will be Brown and O'Shea that lines up against Rooney and Mata. It will be good to see Wes Brown - the hardest man in all the town - slotted back into his familiar role of centre half after his recent role as a right back against West Brom. Brown was strong at right back but doesn't provide the attacking options that Billy Jones possesses as a normal full back. Brown and John O'Shea, who have won a combined 34 honours under Alex Ferguson, are still admired by Manchester United fans but this can be their chance to prove they still have what it takes to be top flight defenders. If they can manage to keep Rooney, Welbeck, Hernandez and Mata quiet for 90 minutes this will certainly not only shut up any doubters but give hope to all Sunderland fans for the remainder of the season.
