6. The Fans

A captivating Twitter map in 2013 appeared to break the myth that Manchester United fans don't live in Manchester. Obviously Twitter isn't a completely reliable source of information as not everybody uses it, but it would appear that Manchester has more United fans in it than City.

Another myth was proved just that last season, as the atmosphere inside Old Trafford was the most passionate ever experienced. 3-0 down to Liverpool at home and Steven Gerrard on a hat-trick, the chant of '20 times' rang around the ground over and over, until long after the final whistle was blown.

It was an amazing demonstration by the fans that recognise they have been utterly spoilt with the amount of success over the years. That 'glory hunter' tag was torn off, screwed up and left on the terraces that day. There wasn't a prawn sandwich in sight.

Manchester City fans on the other hand turned on Roberto Mancini and his players by booing them as they WON 1-0 against Swansea in October 2012. That sense of entitlement has developed very quickly amongst the City faithful, and whilst not all of the fan base would be so quick to voice their discontent, it's clear some sections of supporters are much less willing to get behind the club when things aren't going their way.
