7. Rashad Evans vs. Chuck Liddell - UFC 88
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKhTNf9q_2A This fight made Rashad Evans into one of the most prominent names in the UFC today. During the early part of his career, Evans was mostly known as a wrestler who knew how to grind out fights. The only clear knockout he had at the time was a head kick of Sean Salmon. Some skeptics considered him to be a one-dimensional wrestler. They believed that he needed to shoot in on Liddell at will in order to pull off the upset. While the betting odds weren't necessarily high, people believed that Liddell was back following his thrilling victory over Wanderlei Silva. Evans was patient early on and let the action come to him. He knew he had the speed advantage and not to engage with Liddell at a close distance. Eventually, Liddell had no other choice but to start cornering him against the cage. That worked to an extent, although the speed discrepancy couldn't have been more evident. That led to Liddell swinging wildly looking for an uppercut, which he would regret soon enough. Evans used a simple one-two combination to knock him out. When you remember Liddell, you remember him for his power and iron chin. The iron chin was finally cracked. While Randy Couture and Rampage Jackson finished him beforehand, those were by TKO. Liddell had never been stopped from one strike. Evans was the first fighter to do that, which made it such a historical moment. For a "one-dimensional wrestler", he dropped one of the most durable fighters of all time with one punch.
