10. Massimo Taibi
EMPICS/EMPICS SportIn 1999, following the departure of Peter Schmeichel, Manchester United embarked on a frantic search for a replacement for the legendary Dane, and first ended up with Massimo Taibi. The fact his United career lasted a mere 10 months tells you this one didn't work out, with the Red Devils even winding up making a £2 million loss on the shot-stopper. Taibi's Red Devils career was bizarre. He made his debut against Liverpool in September 1999, and his last ever appearance for the club less than a month later, in a 5-0 defeat to Chelsea on October 3rd. He made a grand total of four appearance for United. The Italian will be remembered not as the heir apparent to Schmeichel, but as the blundering goaly who let Matthew Le Tissier's daisy cutter bobble through his legs.
