3. Savio Nsereko

In 2009, West Ham decided to finally throw everything into fixing their goalscoring woes. This included signing the upcoming Ugandan-born German star, Savio, for a record breaking price of £9 million. Despite his inexperience, and the fact that he had only managed 3 goals in his 22 appearances for Brescia, he was given the number 10 shirt and hailed as West Ham's saviour. This was evidently too much pressure for the youngster to handle, and after just one start and no goals to his name he was sold on at a huge loss.
