4. Marco Boogers

When Marco Boogers arrived at West Ham in 1995, manager Harry Redknapp had purchased him off the back of a single video he had seen of him; just one of the many interesting transfer decisions Redknapp made during his 7 year reign with the Hammers. The Dutch striker was sent off in his second game for a horror tackle on Gary Neville and went on to play just two more games that season. He disappeared back to his homeland on loan but never pulled on a West Ham shirt again, spawning a myth that he had left due to spells of depression and was living in a caravan in Holland.
