10 Things Newcastle Fans Need To Know About Club Atlas

1. The Match Is Being Played At Miller Park In Milwaukee... Which Is A Baseball Ground

But, due to the fact both clubs are currently travelling around the USA on an American tour, this pre-season friendly match will take place at Miller Park in Milwaukee. The ballpark is home to baseball franchise the Milwaukee Brewers and was opened back in 2001. It has a top capacity of 41,900 and the American brewing company Miller has a $40 million (£26 million) deal for the naming rights of the stadium until 2020. Intriguingly, the stadium holds North America's only fan-shaped convertible roof, which opens or closes in less than 10 minutes - and the panes of glass from which it is made of allow natural grass to grow on the pitch. Newcastle United vs Club Atlas will be just the second-ever football match to be played at Miller Park, following the Swansea City-Chivas de Guadalajara game that took place last summer. Strangely, however, the city of Milwaukee does not have a football team in Major League soccer - or in any of the USA's top three divisions for that matter - though the Milwaukee Barons are a group who are aiming to encourage support for a professional side to be established in the area in the future.
