10 Things Premier League Needs To Learn From American Sports

1. Every Goal Checked and Reviewed

10 Touchdown The last idea is the one I think is most likely to be used by the Premier League and the one that is easiest to implement. This is another NFL rule that they only brought in a few seasons ago the simple rule of using the mass of TV cameras that are there for each game to check on every touchdown. They use a video referee no questions asked each touchdown is passed upstairs to be looked at to make sure a point scoring play is legal and not up for debate. Now this idea could work in the Premier League as each game has enough cameras around to catch all the action allowing a video referee to fairly check if a goal should be awarded. A goal is the most important part of football and getting them right is crucial now in tennis and cricket they use video replays to great effect not for every call but to make sure that the big game changing call are correct. Everyone gets upset when a goal goes in that clearly never was and using technology to cut that part of the game out will surely do nothing but good. Even if it is something the referee has missed like an offside call or a foul in the build-up then having every single goal checked out by a video referee then fewer mistakes will result in goals. No debate or controversy will happen if video referees are used only on goal decisions keeping it fair and not having the game stop every 5 minutes to go look at a call. It€™s a simple and easy idea to do that will cut out some much anger in football and help reduce mistakes from officials. I think it would have a great positive effect on English football and would show an intelligent side from the law makes of football which of course means this idea has zero chance of ever being used in the Premier League. Really the chance of using any of these American sports laws is a long shot but I think they would all do more to help football than making it more complex and less entertaining. Comment yourself if you agree, disagree with me or flat out think I€™m crazy hope you enjoyed reading no matter what.

Ian Newby is a average nerd living in the north of England, if given the chance he would spend all his life sat watching every single football match he possibly could before catching up on nerd happy TV shows then playing videos games all night, thankfully he doesn’t do that.
