10 Things We Learned During Newcastle’s Summer Transfer Window

8. Football Is The Talking Point Again

Aleksandar Mitrovic's temper, Georginio Wijnaldum's best position and Florian Thauvin's debutant superlatives have been the topics of conversation rather than talk of money, ambition and outgoings. That's the way that football should be, nobody enjoys talking about Mike Ashley's business model or boycotting matches, football is what this region enjoys and it's a wonderful feeling to have that back around Tyneside again. Yes, there are still questions to be answered and Ashley's motives are certainly not crystal clear but it's refreshing to discuss tactics, formations, new transfers and player form again. We're never far from a drama at St James' Park and with no win in the first four games, the fans will start to get restless and underlying club issues will once more be brought to the surface. For the time being it's up to the players and manager to prove that the Magpies are a Premier League force again.
