10 Things We Learned From Newcastle Vs Southampton
5. Moussa Sissoko Won't Work Playing On The Right-Wing
Moussa was one of United's better performers on Sunday but one problem kept raising its ugly head... His final ball. Time and time again a lung-bursting run would get the Frenchman into a fantastic position, but a terrible cross would let him, and most notably Papiss Cisse down. Although, he did get one set-up spot on as he teed up Georginio Wijnaldum, but the Dutchman could only send his placed effort into a Southampton defender. Starting Sissoko on the right -wing is supposed to give him a free role to make sure opposition defences don't know where the powerhouse is going to be attacking them from next. However, United's No 7 didn't take up the licence his manager afforded him for much of the first-half, only seemingly twigging on to what was actually being asked on him deep into the second. Sissoko would be much better off being employed in the centre of midfield, where he starred for United during that fantastic run last winter. Although with the new recruits and return to fitness of Siem de Jong, it would be hard to see where everyone could fit it. It's a problem that Steve McClaren would rather have than not.
