10 Things We Learned From Sheffield United 2-2 Newcastle

5. Gini Certainly Knows How To Find The Back Of The Net

Two starts, two goals - that's how new signing Georginio Wijnaldum has begun life at Newcastle United since arriving from PSV Eindhoven for £14.5 million this summer. That's certainly not a bad way to introduce yourself to Toon fans and, even though both his goals have been relative tap-ins, Wijnaldum's positioning has been impeccable. A midfielder who arrives with serious goal-scoring pedigree - he netted 18 times in 42 appearances for PSV last season, and on 56 occasions from 152 games in all for the Eredivisie champions - Wijnaldum certainly knows where the goal is. Against Sheffield United, Wijnaldum reacted well to position himself perfectly to capitalise on the Blades' goalkeeper's save from Papiss Cisse after a defensive mix-up. Some midfielders would have just stood looking into the distance, but Wijnaldum pounced and put the Magpies ahead with a calm and well-placed finish. There's certainly more to come from the 24-year-old as well, that's for sure.
