10 UFC 226 Predictions
1. Stipe Miocic Vs. Daniel Cormier
The main event sees one of the most intriguing contests in the heavyweight division in recent memory. Never before has a UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion stepped up to fight for the heavyweight belt, but if anyone could do it is Daniel Cormier.
After all, Cormier only dropped to 205lbs after his undefeated 13-0 record at heavyweight was leading him towards an inevitable showdown with close friend and training partner Cain Velasquez. While DC's resume at 265lbs is unquestionably impressive, he's never fought anyone at heavyweight like Stipe Miocic.
Miocic is quick for his size and possesses some of the best boxing in all of the higher weight classes. He also is a very capable wrestler, demonstrated in how he completed negated the striking of Francis Ngannou in their fight at UFC 220.
What makes this contest so intriguing is that the fight will be engaged in a range that favours both men. Despite his sizeable reach advantage, Miocic prefers to do his work at close range. Cormier's best shot of winning comes if this fight becomes a war of attrition, but he is susceptible to being hit and when facing someone with Stipe's power that usually ends in a short night for whoever is on the receiving end.
Prediction: Stipe Miocic via round 3 KO
