10 Most Undeserving Players Who Appeared 50 Times For Newcastle

10. Nile Ranger - 62 Appearances

If Nile Ranger proved anything during his time at Newcastle, it's that second chances shouldn't be given to every potentially talented young footballer after they've done their level best to already ruin their career. Having been released by Southampton after being locked up, Ranger came to Newcastle with a clearly lofty opinion of himself, and the attitude of an established Premier League striker (as well as of a thug). His talent was obvious - he'd been in blistering form for the Reserves, and when given a chance to impress in cameos for the first team he looked the part. Sadly though, his attitude and behaviour off the pitch ruined all of that positive feeling, and he should have had his contract ripped up considerably earlier than it eventually was. He was a head-ache, a PR disaster and a toxic influence no matter how you looked at it, and the fact that he managed to play more than 60 times for the first-team (50 of them as a substitute) is nothing short of a disgrace.
