Moyes went from the Chosen One to the Wrong One in only ten months, and while the legacy of Ferguson is rightly celebrated, the club need to move on and create new history - not relive it. Fergusons final year was further proof of the supreme talents of the manager as he took a clearly average team and generated exceptional results with them. But the game has moved on from Fergusons style of management and play. The team need to look at the Liverpools and the Atletico Madrids and learn how to overachieve with the current squad whilst also building in the manner of a Barcelona and Bayern Munich. More than anything the large shadow of Ferguson cast a large shadow over of the tenure of David Moyes. Really having Ferguson have no input, and making it clear that he is not involved with the playing staff in any way is the only scenario that can see the next manager succeed.
