10 Worst Decisions Alan Pardew Has Made As Newcastle Boss

1. Accepting The Newcastle Job In The First Place

It speaks volumes that just 1.4% of the 1,000 people canvassed by the Chronicle in a poll asking who they wanted Newcastle to appoint as the successor to Chris Hughton voted in favour of Pardew. Supporters have rarely been so depressed under the tenure of a manager whose reputation has barely improved in the three years since he took charge at St James' Park despite impressively guiding the Magpies to fifth in 2011/12 and picking up the Premier League and LMA Manager of the Year awards. That being said we rode a huge wave of luck that season. But in the two campaigns since his stock has plummeted to an almost irredeemable level and there isn't a Toon supporter who wouldn't remortgage their house to accelerate the process of dislodging Pardew from his Tynesie throne. What exactly has he achieved here apart from turning an entire fan base against him? His lasting legacy at St James' Park will be the unwanted records - being the first Newcastle manager to preside over six-consecutive Premier League defeats - he has broken. And it's not so much hatred that we feel towards him, that is too strong a term, but more a profound sense of contempt for his sycophantic acceptance of the position as a yes-man to Mike Ashley. A frosty rapport, if you will.
