Portsmouth flashed the cash at Tal Ben Haim to make him join their cause on deadline day in 2009. Little did they know just how useless the former Manchester City player would turn out to be.

The Israeli must have laughed his way to the bank week in, week out when he was on the south coast, with his mammoth wages never being repaid by his on-field performances. At times his inept displays were that poor the Fratton Park crowd took to booing their own player.

And if it wasn't bad enough that he was a dud on the pitch, when Pompey were relegated for the second time to end up in League One, the former Chelsea man refused to take a pay cut in order to help the club stay afloat.
