At a time when Tony Fernandes was throwing money at the London club came the very poor decision to bring Chris Samba back to England.

After a successful stint at Blackburn, QPR must have forgotten to run the rule over the man mountain of a defender and chucked £12.5 million in Anzhi's direction for the by-then rather rotund centre-back - a deal they must surely have regretted quite quickly.

Signed for big money and on a massive contract, the 6'4" Congolese stopper managed only 10 appearance for the club before he packed his bags for a quick return to Russia.

So much for the saviour of the club eh, 'Arry?
