10 Worst Newcastle Performances This Decade

3. Derby County 1-0 Newcastle, 2007

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4xoTks9Hw8 Derby County were the worst side to have ever played in the Premier League, and Newcastle United were the only side not to have beaten them. Not only that, but they were also the only side to lose to them. It was a humiliatingly blotch on Sam Allardyce€™s copybook, to go down to a team who would take seven other points from the rest of the Premier League over the course of the season. It was a cold and windy Monday night at Pride Park in September 2007, and with Derby having lost their previous four league games, with their most recent a 6-0 drubbing at Anfield, Allardyce must surely have felt three points was there for the taking. The Magpies never got out of fourth gear, however, as a tenacious Derby showed gall and verve to mastermind their sole victory of the season, with Kenny Miller€™s looping shot on his debut proving to be the difference.
''The sad thing is that we had 14 players away on international duty and that looked apparent. Before the break we were on a roll after the Wigan win, but some of the players looked jaded. We had opportunities, but we didn۪t take them and we were beaten by a wonder goal.۪۪ - Sam Allardyce, September 2007.
To this day, it€™s still embarrassing for Newcastle United supporters to be reminded of the fact that their football team actually lost to a side who scored 20 and conceded 89 goals in 38 Premier League games.
