10 Youth Prospects Who Could Change Arsenal's Future

3. Wellington Silva

Having been first loaned out in 2011, Brazilian Wellington Silva didn't exactly set the world alight during his time with Levante, Alcoyano and Ponferradina but last season, at Real Murcia, the talented attacker finally had some joy and caught the eye of future-thinking Arsenal fans. The 21-year-old featured regularly for his temporary side and, although his goal tally was low, the majority of his performances were mightily impressive. For the past two years he has trained with the U21 team but this year he will be hoping to catch Wenger's eyes again after completing a loan deal with Spanish side Almeria where he should be given more of a first team chance than if he'd stayed at Arsenal. The Brazilian has already expressed his desire to develop his talents; in an interview with Sport, the Brazilian said:
€œI hope to continue improving my skills and enjoy the gift God has given me. €œI will take this opportunity and will work very hard for me and for the whole team this season.€
Silva has no doubt been somewhat stigmatised by his relatively high fee - he cost Arsenal £3.5m from Fluminense back in 2010 - but he could now be coming good after five loan moves, which he undoubtedly needs to having reached the age of 21 without making much of any impact at all in North London. It is clear that Wellington has much talent and, although many may consider his Arsenal chance to be long gone, it would be rather a shame to see him depart without at least being afforded a genuine opportunity to impress.
