Julian Dicks was already a cult figure at West Ham - praised for his passion and willingness to get stuck in - when he made the move to Liverpool in 1993; Graeme Souness had signed him in an effort to toughen up his Liverpool side. When Souness was replaced as manager by Roy Evans, Dicks fell out of favour and struggled to get his game. In a (at the time) controversial move, Harry Redknapp re-signed Dicks to, who's fitness had somewhat deteriorated since his previous spell at West Ham, and he saw out the remainder of his 315 appearances for the Hammers.
