11 Players Spurs Want You To Forget They Signed

Midfielder €“ Hossam Ghaly

Signed from Feyenoord, the Egyptian midfielder became one of the most hated players ever to pull on a Spurs shirt. Ghaly had become frustrated at his lack of time playing in central midfield, having been shunted out on the right of midfield. His performances had been underwhelming and an unsavoury incident in May 2007 cemented Ghaly€™s place on this list. Having been brought on as a first half substitute in place of the injured Steed Malbranque, Ghaly was furious when his number was held up in the second half. He stormed off the pitch, throwing his shirt to the ground in disgust. The Spurs fans, justifiably voiced their displeasure and let Ghaly know, in no uncertain terms, that he was not fit to wear the shirt. Ghaly was farmed out on loan to Derby County after that, and a permanent move to Birmingham City fell through. The closest he got to making another appearance for Spurs was as a substitute in 2009, but when the fans began to boo him when he was warming up, Harry Redknapp decided against bringing him on. Ghaly was eventually sold to Al-Nassr later that year. He wasn€™t missed at White Hart Lane.
